Eating on a student budget in Paris

My student daughter and friend are going to Paris at the end of November on cheap flights from Scotland. They are staying on the Avenue Duquesne near Les Invalides. Any recommendations for places to eat on a budget?

L%26#39;As du Falafel on Rue de Rosiers in the Marais District. Purchase a falafel from the walk-up window for 5E

Crepes from the stand at Place de la Concorde. Ask them to give you a freshly made crepe rather than one sitting on the pile.

Poulet et frites (chicken and potatoes) from any number of places around town. They could have a picnic or eat it in their room.

Food from an open air market.

Angelina%26#39;s on Rue de Rivoli near the Place de la Concorde they can order Quiche or Monte Cristo for quite inexpensive. (I can%26#39;t remember the exact amount.)

Do they want french food or do they just want cheap food? There are lots of delicious ethnic restaurants in Paris where they can eat quite inexpensively.

Thank you for this advice. They would like to eat authentically, not just cheaply, for their main meal in the evening.

It is authenitic for French students to eat cheaply also!! Street carts sell yummy and filling crepes, bakeries sell great bread, delis have meats and cheeses, plus takeaway sandwiches and quiches etc..

There is nothing authentic about eating meals at fancy tourist restaurants anyways.. your daughter and her friend will be more like french students then tourists anyways!

Bread from Boulangeries is very cheap and fabulous. Pastries from Patisseries are unbelievably mouth-watering and inexpensive.

Yogurt from the supermarket is unbelievably delicious in France. I don%26#39;t know why it is so much better than in the US but I think it is.

If they buy tomatoes, cheese, butter, etc. to put on the bread, they have a fabulous lunch. There are all sorts of inexpensive sandwiches they call buy across town too--as well as quiche, etc.

Perhaps they would enjoy a place like Chartier for dinner.

Cremerie Restaurant Polidor is another restaurant which has been around for ages and has decent food at very reasonable prices. People eat family style at long tables. I%26#39;ve eaten here and had the Hache Parmentier (I think that is spelled right.) It is shephard%26#39;s pie. I really liked it.

Hello!

I am going to paris this weekend with my boyfriend (we are students) and are staying at 1 rue de libourne.

Does anyone know where we could get something to eat for breakfast nearby?

also, lunch/dinner (we dont mind if its in central paris/have to get the metro as we%26#39;ll be sightseeing/going places during the day)

thanks! :)

Amelia--there are little cafes on almost every corner in Paris. Just find one near where you are staying. It will be easy. Also, don%26#39;t forget that you can stop into a boulangerie or patisserie and get bread or pastries that are so delicious you will find yourself there every morning.
