Where should I buy my Paris Museum Pass?

Hi all,

I%26#39;m thinking of buying the 4 day Museum Pass, to avoid lines. The price doesn%26#39;t really differ much from paying the admission fees at the museums (we are below 26 yrs), but it really sounds good to me to save some time by skipping lines!

However, I%26#39;m trying to find the best spot for me to buy this museum pass. We%26#39;re staying at the Timhotel Jardin des Plantes, in Quartier Latin. I%26#39;ll arrive at Gare du Nord, take the RER, get off at St Michel de Notre Dame and walk from there.

We%26#39;ll come near two museums: Institut du monde Arabe and Musee de l%26#39;Assistance. Of course we also pass by the Notre Dame (we%26#39;ll actually do a tour that same afternoon), but I think the waiting lines will be smaller at the above mentioned museum right?

Which place would you choose if you were in my shoes?

Thanks so much!

-Marlies

We used www.museumpass.com and received our passes in the mail for our trip in June.

There is a huge shipping fee attached to buying it online. I always go to a museum that doesn%26#39;t have long lines, like the Conciergerie, and buy it there.

IF you are arriving in Paris via THALYS train at GARE du NORD, there is a %26#39;..PARIS TOURISME..%26#39; kiosk (open from 09:00 AM-until-20:00 PM), located on the main concourse of the station where you can purchase your PARIS MUSEUM PASS.

If you are arriving at CDG---

After you arrive in Paris--on your way to or from your hotel...at any of the smaller, less frequented participating museums...so either the Institut du Monde Arabe or Musée de l%26#39;Assistance would suffice for your purpose...as would Cluny or Panthéon.

The one thing that you should most definitely *** NOT *** do is pre-purchase the PMP from on-line agents prior to arriving in Paris...unlewss you simply want to WASTE MONEY...and if that%26#39;s the case, even then, you would be better satisfied if you figured out how much of a %26#39;..premium..%26#39; on-line agents were tacking on to the official price of the PMP in Paris (fees, commissions, shipping, handling %26amp; postage charges) an then tak that amount of €uros and tear them up into tiny pieces and drop them into a toilet anf flush. At least then you%26#39;d have the pleasure of seeing the pretty, swirling patterns the pieces make...before YOUR money goes down the drain.

I also am wondering where to buy it.

My husband and I will be arriving in Paris around 20:00 on the Eurostar from London. It looks like the tourist office in Gare du Nord will be closed by then.

We plan to head directly to the Louvre the next morning and arrive before opening. I don%26#39;t want to pay extra for ordering online before we go, but we would like to have the PMP on hand that morning.

Does anyone know if the pass is sold at St. Pancras station in London?

Thanks!

We bought ours at a Tabac at the underground shopping mall at the Louvre. No wait whatsoever.

Marlies84,

We stayed in the 5th arrondissement, and we bought our Paris Museum Passes at the Pantheon. There was no line at all, though the other museums you mention would probably be fine too.

Can you buy a Museum pass at the airport?

You may be able to buy it at the airport, but I really don%26#39;t know. It%26#39;s easy just to buy it at the first museum you go to, as long as it%26#39;s not terribly crowded.
