Hi, I am wondering how to book the night train from Venice to Nice. What website do I have to go to? We plan to travel the overnight train on the evening of the 23rd June. Can anyone please help? Thanks alot

There is no through night train from Venice to Nice any more: it was cancelled last year. It is possible to travel overnight, leaving Venice at 18.05 and arriving Nice 05.41, but you have to change at Milan and Ventimiglia.

You can get train times from www.trenitalia.com but it does not have information very far ahead. The schedules do not change much, so use travel dates in the next few weeks for your planning.

You are unlikely to be able to book, as the Trenitalia site hardly ever accepts cards issued outside Europe. No need: if you want to do this trip, just buy the tickets in Italy.

If you want to book this journey in advance, you can do so on http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ (but remain in French language throughout for the cheapest price). The site will only offer you one of the several possible train connections each day, but it is the easiest and fastest, leaving Nice at 10.02 and arriving in Venice at 18.40 - advance booking price €41.50, full price €56.50

Or you can take a direct flight: http://www.flybaboo.com/

Forget what I said (except the flight) - I was thinking Nice to Venice, not Venice-Nice. While you could book on SNCF, it%26#39;s no use to you, as you%26#39;d have to pick the tickets up in France before travel. Buy in Italy.

And don%26#39;t travel overnight unless you like being uncomfortable - these are not proper night trains, and you will spend most of the night sitting outside Ventimiglia station.
