where can I buy fold up chairs?

I want to buy two light fold up chairs to watch the Armitice day parade next Friday. I am staying in the Marais, where would be the cheapest place to obtain them?

Thanks

Denise

Hi;

Consider Auchan stores. One in the mall at La Defense.

But for you in the Marais, you might want to try the Tati Stores around Barbe-Rouchechouart...lowest prices...

Also consider a camping chair from Au Vieux Campeur

There are a slew of stores in the 5th off Rue St Jacques near Hotel Cluny, and sell camping clothing and gear.

Sorry, correction, it is the VE day parade, silly me!

Thanks Craigmore for that information. Unfortunately I have heard alarming reports about that particular metro stop and wish to avoid.. Is there a Tati store on Rue Monge? I now seem to remember somebody talking about a store there.

Nobody%26#39;s going to mug you at Barbe-Rouchechouart, certainly not in the daytime...

There are several Tati in Paris, go down the right hand list under %26#39;Ville%26#39;. Probably some are larger stores than others...

Hi Denise,

I was looking on the Internet today and could not find any information about the parade. Even Parisinfo.com didn%26#39;t mention it at all.

We went in 2007 and enjoyed it very much. I believe that we arrived at about 8:30-9am and that the parade began at around 9:30-10am. We were close to the Arch, and we in the first row at the barriers. By the time the parade started, the rows behind us were 4-5 deep.

Go look at our photos from that day, (I tried to find photos on the Internet to show how tight it is all along the barriers, but I couldn%26#39;t so I am posting from our site) particularly the first one where you see how everyone is pressing against the barriers. I really don%26#39;t think a chair would work, it is not that kind of casual small town sunny day parade. billandnancy.com/2007/2spring/spring07.html

It was worth getting there early, and we really enjoyed the whole café scene later where all of the people in full uniform from the parade were in the cafés with their families and friends.

Hi Grndma, there is a Tati on rue du Temple near Temple Metro but I can%26#39;t remember whether it had folding chairs. I bought a couple of 4 Euro seat cushions there for the apartment%26#39;s very hard chairs and it seemed to have a bit of everything. A few doors away there is a very good Monoprix, which I mention because I know you stay in apartments.

Maybe Metromole did not notice your thread. You could try PMing him to see if he knows where to find the chairs. Do you know where you will be able to sit in a chair to watch the parade? It may not be like the viewing arrangements for the Sydney Gay Mardi Gras Parade where the streets are packed but you could not find anywhere there to sit that had a view of the parade.

Another reason to go to the parades on May 8th and July 14th are that the Republican Guard will be there with their cavalry brass band. The stables are on Henri IV, not too far from where we live, and everyone once in awhile we see them going off to an event and it is a real treat to stand and watch them go by.

Here are a couple of videos that I found about them.

This is a film about how the men train everyday with their horses. We went to their open house last year and got to tour the stables and see a variety of different demonstrations, all of them interesting.
