Marseille, Cassis

Hi, we will be taking a bus from Aix en Provence to Marseille, Cassis

1)Will the bus arrive straight into the town centre right? How far to walk to the Old Town?

2) Will there be a problem if we visit these towns on a Sunday or a Monday? Like most of the shops , cafes, etc will be closed on a Sunday or some on mondays?

3) Will there be a 1-2 hour Afternoon closing time for most of the cafes and shops ?

4) Where can I take the bus out of Marseille to Cassis? How frequent does it run ?

5) which is easier to take the local bus or train to Cassis?

6) What time is the last BUS out of Marseille, Cassis back to Aix en Provence?

Thank you

Hello

Some information first.

Marseille runs on a city schedule (3rd largest in France) so yes, Sunday and Monday some things may be closed, and yes, shops may be closed at lunch.

Cassis is a seaside resort that lives from tourism, so during the season beyond rare exceptions everything is open every day. A few services will close for lunch (hair dressers,...) but certainly not restaurants or most boutiques!

Buses arrive at the Saint Charles train station in Marseille which is within walking distance of the Vieux Port (Old Port) and La Canebiere. There is also the subway.

For Cassis, the buses used to arrive in the center, and if this is no longer the case, there is a shuttle and a train to get you from the arrival point to the center of the village. here is the link to the times: www.ot-cassis.com/us/venir/acces/index1.php

The Cassis train station is not in the center but there is a shuttle or take a taxi.

One day for both Marseille and Cassis will be a little short.
