How is Parc Andre Citroen?

We are going to be in the area and thought Parc Andre Citroen looked interesting to visit.

From the website there are fountains, gardens and greenhouses to visit.

But I came across a review that said the parc was not well kept the fountains had been turned off, the grass not well kept and the plants in the greenhouses had been starved of Nitrogen - yes honestly!

So is it how it looks in the pictures and worth a visit or is it a bit run down?

We will be visiting in a couple of weeks.

Parc Andre Citroen is a completely man made park that is not worth a detour. It is ok if you live there and want your kids to play outside.

Oh well thanks for that.

We visited Parc Andre Citroen two years ago and really enjoyed it. It is different to the other Parisian parks, with modern fountains and water features, many small gardens themed by colour and large greenhouses. There is also a tethered hot air balloon that you can go in if the weather is suitable. It wasn%26#39;t operating the day we were there.

When we were there the greenhouses were closed but looking through the windows the plants looked in good condition. We spent a pleasant afternoon in the park enjoying the sun.

I was there in September 2007. I did like the fountains (and they were operating). I walked the entire length of the parc. I don%26#39;t think it is worth going out of your way for. It looks manmade. It is too flat for my taste. There are two levels to the park. The upper level has greenery, shrubs, trees, and different little gardens. They weren%26#39;t very colorful when I was there.

Of all of the parcs I have seen in paris, this was probably my least favorite. But if you are nearby, you might just want to check it out.

I completely agree with la_photographe%26#39;s view on Parc Andre Citroen. Compared with what most of the other parks in Paris have to offer, it%26#39;s bland at best. It has it%26#39;s own qualities but it wouldn%26#39;t be high on my list if I had limited time visiting Paris.

Looks like it%26#39;s a matter of different tastes. Personally, I%26#39;m with redqueen; we really enjoyed it. So much so in fact that we visited twice during our two week Paris trip last year.

Granted it%26#39;s not one of the typically elegant Parisian parks, but I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s definitely worth a look if you%26#39;re going to be in the area. The first time we went it was a Sunday afternoon and there were lots of families enjoying their picnics on the grass. It had a really relaxed vibe that we loved.

If you want to send me a PM, I%26#39;d be happy to share some of our pictures from last year with you.

Thanks for the offer Laura.

As we will be in the area I will put it back on the list, we have been to Paris a few times before so have seen the major places, we are quite happy just to wander and come across places.

Except for some parts of Boulogne and Vincennes, ALL parks in Paris are 100% man-made! starting by the Tuileries and Luxembourg gardens. The Buttes Chaumont, and Montsouris were originally ugly quarries before they were made into English-style parks at great expense to entice would be homeowners to buy homes nearby.

Interesting photos and concept.

Form a landscaper%26#39;s perspective it is a jewel because it is so different from all the Le Notre designed parks in the area. It remains very geometric, but in an architectural way. I love it because it IS different and there is a hot air balloon.
