Michel Delacroix Paintings

I%26#39;m hoping someone might be able to help with an inquiry. For those who know, Michel Delacroix is an artist of Paris scenes from the 1930s and 1940s in the %26quot;naif tradition%26quot; (that is, folk art) with a popular following in North America. We can get his prints in most poster shops and limited editions of lithographs and serigraphs can be purchased through galleries. A few galleries sell his original paintings in the U.S., but when you go through a U.S. gallery, the price is instantly inflated from, for example, the prices that can be obtained when these paintings go up for auction - which isn%26#39;t too often. What I am hoping is that some of his original artwork is available in France on a less inflated price as compared to the U.S. galleries. However, despite searches on both English and French search engines, I have been unable to find any galleries in Paris (let alone France) that mention that they sell his work - except for one that indicated that it had no paintings in its present inventory. I%26#39;ll be going to Paris later this week and if anybody has any suggestions or has seen any of his artwork in any galleries they happen to have passed by and can give me any leads, I%26#39;d be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are several galleries in the St Germain area that may be able to help you. I am thinking of one in particular on the rue de l%26#39;Université, but I can%26#39;t recall the name or the cross street (it is somewhere not far from St Peres). What I recommend is that you visit any gallery that looks like they%26#39;d have similar work and start chatting them up. They can be very helpful.

There is also one gallery at Clignancourt, on the rue des Rosiers, right side before Veraisson that may be able to help you.

And finally, one or maybe two galleries on the rue Ste Anne in the 2nd may be of service.

Now that I think about it, contact the gallery Marie Watteau. She was on Ste Anne, but has moved to the 7th. She may know who knows.

Seems that this painter is popular in the USA only and quite unknown in France!
