Best beach for the still, shallow, crystal clear waters...

..and the white, white sand?

I have seen pictures of beautiful bays with still, azure-blue seas and the whitest quartz sand, with a back drop of verdant green pine trees. I mistook the beaches as being the Caribbean but apparently, it was somewhere on Corsica.

Having researched a little, is this more likely to be the SE corner around Porto Vecchio, rather than the more rugged and exposed NW corner around Calvi?

Wherever it is, I am looking for villa recommendations for 8 people.

Many thanks

Steven

The beaches where you could definitely be in the Caribbean are really the ones to the north and south of Porto Vecchio. I think it must be the light there as the sea is definitely turquoise like the Caribbean, more so than at all the other fabulous beaches you find elsewhere on Corsica - which themselves would rate pretty highly on any beach lovers list.

The only downside to this is that these white sand beaches are mobbed in high summer. Large car parks have been constructed over the years and if you want to see these beaches at their best (i.e. tranquil) think May and October, possibly June and September although we found the Palombaggia beaches very busy mid September last year. Santa Guilia, Rondinara, St. Cyprien, all are gorgeous.

Villa recommendations for 8 hopefully will follow, the only website I know of was recommended by an American couple we met in Calvi which is www.abritel.fr (?), google abritel and it should come up.

Yes I agree, but there are lovely sandy beaches with villas round at Cappiciolo, on the SW corner, though this is rather remote, for instance, food shopping was very limited when we were there a couple of years ago. One small shop, limited opening hours, at least 20 minutes drive to the next shop.

The NW corner has lovely rocky beaches.

Maybe %26quot;la plage du Lodo %26quot; near St florent.

Thank you to those who have replied.

Looks like we have settled on a villa, with pool, near to Porto Vecchio and close to a beach. Research shows that it was probably Palombaggia or similar. Let%26#39;s hope the crowds are not too horrendous towards the end of June.

Next research project - restaurants!

Thank you once again.
