Upper 20s couple...1st time to Paris

I%26#39;m thoroughly confused!

My husband and I are looking for a centrally located hotel, under $250/night, 3-4 stars.

We plan to do a lot of sightseeing and would like to take a day trip to Versailles and Champagne wine country.

We%26#39;ve never stayed in a %26quot;boutique%26quot; type hotel. I%26#39;m not opposed to these, it%26#39;s just that it%26#39;s hard to pick a hotel when it%26#39;s not a US chain we have heard of... We are open to anything decent though!

THANKS!

How about a hotel on an island on the Seine River, Ile St Louis, just a canal west of Notre Dame. You can%26#39;t get a more central location than that.

Do a TA review in the upper left hand corner to see if one or another suites you. Paris hotel rooms can be small, but oh so charming. You will love the neighborhood.

Take a chance on a boutique hotel. What do you have to lose? You may never go back to a chain hotel again.

250 USD is about 190 EUR

Check Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche (www.henri-paris-hotel.com) very centrally located, within walking distance to many sites and close to convenient transportation.

Thank you for your responses! I looked into all of those hotels and unfortunately, they are all booked for the time we will be there in June :(

Keep the suggestions coming!

Can try Hotel Millesime http://www.millesimehotel.com/home-en.php

and Hotel des Grands Hommes www.hoteldesgrandshommes.com/

both are well located.

Try the Hotel Le Regent,, excellant location , and the deluxe rooms are great( but the standard rooms are too small).. look it up.. we really enjoyed it, so close to so much.

Unfortunately you have left it a bit late to get some of the really good rates ,, June is a busy month, and the really good little hotels fill up fast,, they don%26#39;t have hundreds of rooms like the chains.

I would never choose to stay in a chain hotel in Paris, especially not an American chain hotel. Why,, because you are in Paris,, not U.S. Just so you understand, ,, I DO occaisonally stay in American chain hotels,, WHEN I go to America( I like Shertons) ... but in Paris,, a boutique hotel is so much more fun and interesting,, and Parisiene!!!

Thank you. I will check into these others. Normally I would not wait this long to book a hotel, but this trip just came about due to my husband%26#39;s job.

I really like using Booking.com to find hotels in Paris. In general they have more reviews than trip advisor and alway have the hotel%26#39;s special rates. I liked Le Fabe Hotel. Also have you thought about priceline or hotwire. Versailles is a must! Also if you are more comfortable with an American chain Best Westerns are really nice in Paris. Like the Best Western Aida Opera. Also they are Marriots and other Starwood Hotels.

My wife and I just returned from Paris last night and had one of the best Hotel experiences EVER at the Hotel Ares in the 15th Arr. near the Eiffel Tower. It is always ranked #1 or #2 on Tripadvisor, so we decided to give it a try. We are both 31 years old and travel at least 4 weeks every year to various parts of the world for vacation. We always like a centrally located hotel that is clean, fashionable, and somewhat luxurious. We were a little skeptical about the location of this hotel as we had heard that it was in a neighborhood, and not as central to the main nightlife draws. This couldn%26#39;t have been farther from the truth. The Hotel is on a very quaint and quiet street, which is perfect as we were only there at night and were able to leave our balcony door open and get some crisp fresh air without the noise. The hotel is also only one block from a metro line that is as central as can be...we were only a 3 to 10 minute train ride from everywhere in Paris. We walked and took the train EVERYWHERE...but there is a lot to do around the hotel as well. Great cafes and shopping within a blocks distance. The hotel was BEAUTIFULLY decorated, was extremely clean, and was truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Check it out under the hotel section of Tripadvisor, and feel comfortable in trusting all of the rave reviews. I miss it already!!
