Mosquitos!

Could anyone tell me please if Mosquitos are a problem in the South of France in the month of May? If the answer is yes, of course my next question is: Has anyone got any good remedies!

Unless you are staying somewhere there is standing water nearby [and there has been a campaign to combat it to minimise mosquitos in the past couple of years] you will probably only see the odd one in May.

Aloe vera gel usually works well if you get bitten - bring it with you -its hard to get here.

Pharmacies here sell little gadgets that work against a range of bites [they neutralise the insect saliva] and if someone has a bad reaction to mosquito bites etc head to the pharmacy for advice

A free standing fan that blows air across your body while you sleep (if you can stand it). The mosquito can%26#39;t land on you with the breeze blowing. Fans that direct the breeze down from the ceiling don%26#39;t work as well for mosquito protection.

Also, citronella oil is supposed to be unattractive to them. You can buy roll ons or sprays.

Shower before going to bed to remove any of the natural body odours that attract them (use citronella based shower gels).

Thanks for your help.

In May it%26#39;s usually not a problem...
