From Villefranche to Eze to Monaco and back?????

We will be in port in Villefranche in June from 7 to 7. We have decided to use public transportation (bus) to leave Villefranche and head to Eze then on to Monaco. We are looking for details on how to do this. Should we do Eze on the way to Monaco or on the way back? We will be the only cruise ship in port that day so hopefully that will help.

Thanks

Unfortunately there is no direct bus between Villefranche and Eze Village, which keeps the taxi drivers very happy.

If you want to mix and match, you can catch a bus (TAM 100 evry 15 minutes) bound for Monaco up on the main road above the town. From there there is a fairly infrequent bus to Eze Village - the 112 Monaco/ Beausoleil - Nice via Eze Village.

To get back to Villefranche its a taxi, or two bus legs - you really don%26#39;t have time to do this all easily.

Cheers

Unless you are nearly fluent in French, I would not suggest taking the bus unless that is your only option. Better to rent a car for getting around, especially as you want to visit villages beyond the coast. But if the bus is your best option, study in advance all the terminology for traveling that way.

It can certainly be done and you don%26#39;t need to know one word of French. From where you land walk up the hill to the main road. The bus stop you need is on the seaward side of the road near the traffic lights. Bus 100 runs every 15 minutes. Give the driver one euro each, smile in a friendly way to make up for your lack of French and say Monaco. You will stand out from the crowd of what the locals regard as rude tourists if you say %26#39;bonjour%26#39; first. From Monaco you need to get bus 112, as before, give the driver one euro per person and say Eze Village. From Eze either get bus 82 or 112 to Nice and bus 100 or 81 to Villefranche or bus 83 to Eze Bord de Mer and bus 100 to Villefranche. If you feel you are running out of time in Eze a taxi to Villefranche will cost about 40 euro.

Each bus journey takes around 20 minutes or so but apart from the 100 there are long gaps between buses, so you need to check times. All bus times to and from Eze can be seen at eze-riviera.com %26amp; they are shown on the bus stops. It is important to build in time to allow for delays %26amp;/or confusion.

Your schedule could be:

09.00 Depart Villefranche

09.30 Arrive Monaco

12.00 Depart Monaco

12.30 Arrive Eze

02.30 Depart Eze

03.00 Arrive Nice

03.30 Depart Nice

04.00 Arrive Villefranche

In my view Nice is many times more interesting than Monaco but I would not aim at arriving back in Villefranche later than 5.00pm as people have been known to miss the departure of the ship!

The most difficult part of the trip is finding the bus stop for Monaco - Eze. Perhaps Monaco Cabbie, a regular on TA could explain? You can find a map at visitmonaco.com

Good advice. And you are right, Nice is much more enjoyable than Monaco.
