We stayed here though between visiting the chateau and Paris didn%26#39;t have much time for the town. It did seem like a nice town. Probably fairly typical small french town. I understand there is a university there. We loved the outdoor market in Market Square...I don%26#39;t think there was one every day, but there did seem to be different markets on different days, ie: farmers, crafts. There were also some very nice looking shops we passed on our way back from the chateau to our hotel. Also lots of food options as one would expect in France.

Is there anything else aside from the palace. Yes, of course there is, have you gone on the Versailles website?

There is Marie Antionettes Hamlet, there is the Grand Trianon, the Theatre, and the Petit Trianon. There is the canal where you can rent a row boat, and the trails around the canal, where you can rent a bike and ride around.

The chateau and grounds are huge, overwhelming and amazing and you can definitely spend all day there. During the summer they have fountain shows choreographed with classical music. You can take a cruise in a small boat or rent a golf cart to tool around the gardens. I rushed thru the last time I went, but this time I am going to spend the day.

The town website has a lot of info about Versailles beyond the palace and its grounds:
