It is safe and fun and young and trendy and not at all over-touristed. Enjoy.

Yes, good area. Lots of youthful nightlife in the small streets just east of Bastille. There are a handful of small hotels, but the tourist presence does not overwhelm the area. Plenty of supermarkets. The Bastille food market is nearby.

Depending on your location in the 11th, you may find more direct transport to the major attractions by bus than by metro. This interactive map shows bus and metro (click on symbols at left to change between bus and metro views) ratp.info/orienter/cv/cv_en/carteparis.php

Thanks for your info. Do you know the street Rue Rebeval. I saw it in the map. It looks very quiet and have no stores or markets there. If you know, please tell me.

thanks

You might have a look around with the google maps street view; I%26#39;m not familiar with that immediate area.

rue Rebeval is in the 19th. You definitely won%26#39;t find too many tourists out that way.

Rue Rebeval is going uphill from the farmer market on bd de la Villette (Wednesday and Saturday) to the Buttes Chaumont park, which is one the most beautiful in Paris tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187147-d1…

It%26#39;s trendying up, and there are a bunch of cafes, restaurants (Zoe Bouillon, Mon Oncle le Vigneron, etc), wine shops with restaurant, stand up comedy club uphill rue Rebeval near Belleville street. Again it%26#39;s safe, very mixed socially and racially, nothing to worry about since it%26#39;s what it%26#39;s so special.

On the other side of Belleville street, in the 20th, again more bars with live music, quaint neighborhoods:

- the great view up rue Piat with a nice cafe terrasse at la Mer à Boire,

- villa Castel

- rue des Cascades (les 3 Chapeaux café with live music)

- rue and villa de l%26#39;Ermitage (live music Friday and Saturday at the Studio with live music and cheap drinks),

- rue Boyer (more live music at la Bellevilloise http://www.labellevilloise.com/english.htm and la Maroquinerie http://www.lamaroquinerie.fr/content2/

And if you%26#39;re around in May, don%26#39;t miss the artists%26#39; %26quot;open doors%26quot;, a great way to go inside private courtyards and apartment, view some nice work also http://www.ateliers-artistes-belleville.org/ It%26#39;s a must do !

It%26#39;s safe, yound and trendy. Bars, music (live and specialty discs shops), fashion all around Charonne, La Roquette, Keller, Lappe, Forge Royale, Faidherbe.

On week days, the former furniture workshop passages north and south of rue St Antoine are worth a visit too.

This location is a residential area and is fine as LnandP said, not centrally located though and pretty far from Roquette/Keller/Charonne trendy neighborhood Phread and LnandP both mentionned : it would be a 3 kilometers walk, definitively not the same neighborhood!

Thanks so much for your information. I don%26#39;t think it is convience for my family to visit all attractions in Paris. It is a good place for new married couple for honeymoon but not for family with children want to discover all cultures and museum in Paris.

Have a wonderful time
