Have you seen my tips on building your itinerary?

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187147-i14-k26550…

Of the hotels you listed, I would choose Hotel Tourisme first, Lux H.Picpus 2nd, and Libertel Nord last. No personal experience, but I tend to %26#39;follow%26#39; a lot of the hotels, reviews etc. I have suggested Tourisme to other posters, and it seems well-received. Lots of restaurants in the 7th arr, nearby...

The Metro system in Paris is AMAZING. Pick up a 10 ride pass, you%26#39;ll need it. I like staying near Ile St. Louis. You may want to rent an apartment if you are staying for a bit. I am not sure how long you are staying for, but all places mentioned above have a Metro line within 1-2 blocks. If you want to stay in a district that is not very central, as long as you have a Metro stop nearby, your fine. However, if you do have a choice...stay near the Latin Quarter, Marais, or Ile St. Louis as mentioned in the beginning of my post. Have fun!!!

Tourisme is the only one I%26#39;d pick, it%26#39;s a nice, well located (in a good area), inexpensive hotel.

From Gare du Nord to Hotel Tourisme you can take the 42 bus and get off at Dupleix metro station and walk a few minutes, or take the metro (would have to change lines once).

It%26#39;s a short walk to the Eiffel Tower and Trocadero, to other sites you could take the metro or buses. Here is a link to an interactive map with metro lines indicated, give it a moment to download parisbytrain.com/files/2008/10/metro_geo.pdf

Libertel is close to Gare du Nord but that%26#39;s the only plus, Hotel Lux (not to be confused with Lux Picpus) doesn%26#39;t look good and isn%26#39;t near to Eurostar or any sites.

How many days will you be in paris. That will affect how many of these sites you would see in a day.

For starters, you could see the Louvre, walk through the Tuilleries Gardens to Place de la Concorde, head up the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe to see the fabulous view of Paris.

Visit Notre Dame first thing in the morning. I don%26#39;t think you can visit the Palais de Justice but Sainte Chapelle is next door to is (2 blocks from Notre Dame) and the beautiful stained glass is definitely worth seeing. After you see those two sites, I suggest wandering around Ile St. Louis (next to Notre Dame) and having lunch there as well. For dessert, try either bertillon (ice cream) or Amorino (gelato--I like it better, and it is cheaper, and they shape it to form a beautiful flower--work of art). From hear you could head to Le Jardin du Luxembourg.

Don%26#39;t miss the Opera Garnier. I think it is the most beautiful building in Paris. You can go on an english tour or do a self-tour. It is simply too gorgeous to miss. The Opera Garnier is also in the large department stores shopping area on Blvd. Haussmann. You can visit Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps for your shopping.

I also suggest that you see the outside of the Pompidou Center. It is an amazing building. Another building which you might want to view the outside is Hotel de Ville. It is actually the Paris City Hall. The building is so majestic and huge. I love looking at it. It isn%26#39;t too far from the Louvre or Notre Dame. The Pompidou Center is also in the same general vicinity.

You can do the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero in the evening. Be sure to see the Eiffel Tower after dark when it sparkles for about 5 minutes on the hour through midnight. You won%26#39;t know whether to laugh or cry it is so fantastic. Going up the Eiffel Tower isn%26#39;t anything special because there are so many other great views of Paris and they all include the Eiffel Tower in them. But if you must go up, then by all means do so. The lines are often long and it more sense to do it if you will be there for a few days rather than waste precious time in line on a 1-3 day trip.

Have fun.
