Help Choosing a Hotel, Please

My husband and I (mid-30%26#39;s) will be in Paris for New Year%26#39;s for three nights. We have budgeted $400-500 per night. We are tall people so a king sized bed is a must.

We would like to be in an area with cafes, restaurants, and shopping. On our previous trip (Sept. 07) we stayed in the Latin Quarter and saw all the major sights. For this trip we just want to hang out (and shop a little!) and would like to be within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees. I was looking at Hotel Elysees Regencia which looks like it fits our needs well...anyone have other recommendations for that general area?

Or, would we be better of stay somewhere else during the holiday weekend (we didn%26#39;t spend much time there on our last trip but Ile St. Louis looks charming)?

Thank you for all responses!

Hotel Nepoleon. Half a block from the Champs and Arc. Family owned since 1924 Old Paris charm. J. Baker, O. Wells, and E, Flyn were frequent guests during their day. Great hotel, great location. 4 star luxury. For specifics review their web site.
