Grasse visit

We are staying in Nice for a week on a hen party and are considering visiting the Galimard to do the tour and make our own perfume. Would anyone recommend this? Is Grasse worth the effort? Any restaurant recommendations- on a budget.

Thanks in advance

Grasse main interest are indeed the perfume. You should just go there for that specific reason. I use to live in the Cote d%26#39;Azur for years and Grasse is far from being my favorite city! That said, if you are a fan of flagrance, it worths the journey. Grasse is not that bad actually, but I just don%26#39;t see any real charming reason to go there but the perfume.

But Grasse is quite close to Nice, so you should make your own mind! My opinion is definitively very personnal as I was not a tourist. If you don%26#39;t like it, well you will be back in Nice within one hour, so no big deal to try the journey.

Go up to the Fragonard shop, right off the underground parking lot in the center of Grasse--just below the beautiful rose garden There you can have your own perfume blended and look at the selections in the gift shop as well. The large shop has displays of perfume bottles, and you could also visit the excellent, new International Perfume Museum in the same area.

About 2 blocks east of the main plaza on a side street is a very nice little restaurant, and as soon as I can find the card I%26#39;ll post the information for you. Make some time to walk around the old part of Grasse, which has been nicely restored in the last few years.

The restaurant is Lou Candeloun--you%26#39;ll need to ask for directions. Essentially what you do is go up the street right opposite the underground parking lot, turn left at the Fragonard boutique, continue until you come to a small plaza, and look down the street to the right to find the sign for the restaurant. It%26#39;s well worth the hunt!

If you are on a budget, go to Grasse by bus number 500 from the main bus station in NIce costs one euro and takes about the same time as the train does

Whilst you can of course go to Grasse for the perfume tour there is an alternative - a couple of the perfume houses have established outlets in Eze Village, which is vastly more attractive than Grasse, so you get two points of interest instead of one one. And sorry I%26#39;m with the first poster - Grasse would be bottom of my visit list (indeed lower than bottom if there was space)
