Could someone please tell me whether the Navigo metro card is a paper ticket (like the old Carte Orange) that has to be inserted in the turnstile or a plastic card that is electronically read at the turnstyle?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks.

Hi JCM1949..so my post in your other thread.
The Navigo decouvert is a paper card e encased cased in a rigid plastic cover. You pass it over the purple %26quot;reader%26quot; at the gate to the metro or the entrance to a bus. The reader will ding to indicate the pass has been accepted.
Have a good trip.

Denise - are you sure?
I know the card you put your photo on is plastic coated paper but the actual fare card (with microchip) is plastic, isn%26#39;t it?
In any case, JCM, you don%26#39;t feed the card into a slot, just pass it over the reader.

Navigo cards are actually flexible, 2mm thick plastic CC-size cards containing an RFID (radio frequency identification) chip. The RATP provides a rigid plastic sleeve to protect the card from bending because they are flexible and prone to damage.

Looking at my navigo decouvert pass now. There are two cards, one is green, white and purple, plastic credit card size type card with a chip in it and the words %26quot;Navigo decouverte%26quot;. The other is flexible cardboard, white with purple and the words %26quot;carte nominative transport%26quot;. This has my photo on it. Both cards fit into a rigid plastic sleeve together. It passes over the reader intact, you do not have to take the cards out.
